Mr. Gordon's 7th and 8th Grade ELA Classes

Hello! Please allow myself to introduce...myself.

My name is Curtis Gordon, and this is my first year at WJHS! Last year I taught English and Social Studies at Mt. Elden Middle School in Flagstaff, and before that I taught English and US History at Winslow High School for four years. (GO BULLDOGS!) This year I am teaching 7th and 8th grade English, and I am thrilled to be back at WUSD.

After working in auto repair and performance shops for twenty years, I decided I needed a change and went back to college. I graduated in 2015 from Northern Arizona University with my B.S. Ed. degree with a focus on Secondary History and Social Studies. I am certified in the state of Arizona to teach English, History, Social Studies, and Political Science/American Government for grades 6-12. I love my job! I love that I get to come to work and improve people’s lives; I get to make the world a better place! I was born to do this, but since I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed it took me until I was 45 to figure it out.

I live in Flagstaff with my wife and one of our two daughters, a dog, a cat, and a gecko lizard. We’ve been in Northern Arizona for ten years now, and were in the Phoenix valley for ten years prior to moving up the 17. Arizona is our adopted home state and we love it here.

On my down time I love to play guitar and bass. I am a geek for hard rock and heavy metal (80’s music forever!), and I love animation and anime. I’ve been a gearhead since I was a little kid and love American musclecars and drag racing. My hobbies are more expensive than my budget allows.

The best way is through e-mail at I will reply within 24 hours in most instances (I try not to check it during extended holidays, but I still do).
