Who is Ms. Knox

Hello All,
My name is Ms. Christa Knox and I am so excited about this school year. First a little about me. I was born and raised in Golden, CO (go Demons!) and moved to the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area when I was 19. I attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati, graduating with a BFA in Painting/Art History with a minor in Political Science (Totalitarianism/Apocalyptic Imagination). When my daughter started school I went to the University of Cincinnati for my MA in Art History (Japanese/Mayan) and then Thomas More College for my MAT.
We moved to Winslow in July of 2013.

This is going to be an amazing year and I cannot wait to get to know all of you.

Art Videos

I have run into unexpected problems with YouTube and uploading videos.
I am currently uploading them to Google Classroom (class code uxb7qk4).
I will let you know when YouTube is uploading and I am able to share videos there also.

Distance Learning and Office Hours

Hello All,
I just wanted to make a note to let everyone know that I am uploading videos to my YouTube page and to Google Classroom. Internet is slow with all the users so I will be uploading videos over nights to have for you.
Also, I will have "office hours" via Zoom from 9am-12pm M-F. Zoom idea number is:

716-079-0564

https://us04web.zoom.us/j/7160790564

I will also check my email each week day at 9am and 3pm to see if anyone has any questions.

If you have not done so, please log onto Artsonia and give approval to upload any creations over the off time. A gallery has been set up for at home creations.

Hope to see everyone on Zoom!

-Ms. Knox

Change your mindset, change the game

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Dr. Crum says the biggest game changer is “YOU, by harnessing the power of your mind." She explores scientific results that show the influence of the mindset on the body, and how changing the subjective mindset produced different outcomes. Dr. Crum's work is inspired in part by the placebo effect, and has implications that stretch far beyond the realm of medicine. Dr. Crum is a professor, psychologist, and researcher investigating how mindsets affect health and behavior. Dr. Crum's research focuses on how changes in subjective mindsets—the lenses through which information is perceived, organized, and interpreted—can alter objective reality through behavioral, psychological, and physiological mechanisms. Her work is, in part, inspired by research on the placebo effect, a notable and consistent demonstration of the ability of the mindset to elicit healing properties in the body. She is interested in understanding how mindsets affect important outcomes outside the realm of medicine, in the domains of behavioral health and organizational behavior.

The Power of Yet

Carol Dweck researches “growth mindset” — the idea that we can grow our brain's capacity to learn and to solve problems. In this talk, she describes two ways to think about a problem that’s slightly too hard for you to solve. Are you not smart enough to solve it … or have you just not solved it yet? A great introduction to this influential field. TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). Look for talks on Technology, Entertainment and Design -- plus science, business, global issues, the arts and much more.
