Students hit 'the target score' on NWEA/Map Test

Last week WJHS administered the NWEA/MAP (Measure of Academic Progress). These tests are the adopted benchmark tests that are nationally normed, standardized achievement based which measures what students know at the time of testing. Since this a a nationally administered test the overall data can be compared to the student achievement norms. This allows us to see a score that represents where a student should fall in the mean national score for the fall, winter and spring tests. Using this data we can review their achievement growth on each test over the course of the year, as well as from year to year.
The data gained from each test will help us support students who demonstrate a lower achievement level of performance by placing them into intervention groups. Our teachers provide targeted instruction during our "Achieve" classes based on this data. Each test will result in a review of individual progress as well as support in the areas they require.
WJHS is proud of the 77 students who scored at or above the established Student Growth Norms set by NWEA. These students have qualified for enrichment activities during their Achieve class. We are always looking for ways to provide our students with the best education at WJHS and this is a testament to our continued mission in accomplishing this task over the year.
Congratulations

to these students and keep working hard in your classes so that we can see great achievement and growth on the next test.
